Initial Thoughts:
When I think of Paris I think of a very rainy city, somewhat like Seattle, but I have trouble placing the lush green mountains in the picture. When I think of Paris's region, it makes me think of the swiss alps, and it makes me wonder if Paris (France) has any mountains.
Comparing and contrasting Paris's region:
In the south of France the weather is a fairly warm, contrasting to the cooler temperature on the North side of France. Also, the summers are not too hot, like Seattle, but the winter temperatures in Paris are much colder. In the west of Paris, also like Seattle, it is colder and cloudier, even in the summer. I can infer that Paris is a rainy city because the rainfall is 50 inches a year, and Seattle's varies from 37 inches. Although in France, the rainfall is lighter in the eastern region.
Common characteristics about life in Paris:
Life in Paris is pretty similar to Seattle. Both Paris and Seattle are cities, so both have to deal with traffic. Paris is so busy, that the traffic has caused a dangerous amount of pollution.
Unique things about Paris's region:
One unique thing about Paris's region is that there are so many different Natural features. There are volcanos, Alps, and rivers, and the Mediterranean Sea. You cant find such a diverse area of Natural features all packed together almost anywhere else! Paris's geography really stands out and makes it unique.
Revised Thinking: After learning about Paris's region and how it compared to Seattle, I was surprised to see that the two cities are similar in terms of climate and weather. Paris's traffic situation reminds me of Seattle right now because of the closed overpass by the Ballard Bridge. The overpass has been backing up traffic and making it hard to get around without being stuck in Traffic. This will lead to more pollution, and hopefully doesn't get to a toxic point like Paris's air.
