Initial Thoughts:
My initial thoughts about place, in Paris, were about what kind of food is regularity eaten in Paris? I had earlier heard that a special treat there was Escargot. I also wondered how they lived their lives. Did they have cars, jobs, and what kind of education do the kids who live in Paris have? I also wonder what kind of physical features Paris has, such as beaches, or mountains.

To the left are the France Alps. They reach from the Mediterranean coast to the Swiss boarder. When the snow melts in the spring each year, it streams down into the Rhône River Valley.
Another mountain range in France are the Pyrenees. The make the boarder between France and Spain. The foothills in the Pyrenees are known for their famous hotsprings. (shown below) |
Below is a picture of Rhône River Valley feeding into a body of water. The Rhône River Valley is bordered by the French Alps and Massif Central. During the springtime, flooding is frequent, because the snow from the French Alps melts into the river. The river feeds into the Mediterranean coast.
- The Paris Basin contains plains and plateaus. The Basin is located in the North, and feeds out to many rivers, including the Seine, one of France's biggest rivers and runs through downtown Paris.
- The Aquitaine Basin expands along the east coast, on one side with the Loire River to the Pyrenees Mountains. The Basin has been drained by many rivers and is now lush farming land.
Shown to the right, Massif Central is located in the south area of France. If is filled with gorges and river valleys. A volcano, Auvergne, located on the southern end of Massif Central, fills the ground with craters.
Finally, the West of France includes towns on the green, rolling hills. Some of these towns are Brittany and Normandy. The West of France stretches across the English Channel all the way to the north side of the Bay of Biscay.

Revised Thinking: Before I studied Paris as a place, I didn't know what kind of traditional foods people who live in Paris ate, or the different types of geography that fill France. It really surprised me that there were so many places and different natural features in France, such as active volcanoes, mountains, rivers, and the sea. in the middle of the geography, the capitol and biggest city in France was thriving with life and culture.
